Welcome to Red River Zoo, where nature meets wonder in the heart of the Great Plains. Nestled along the scenic Red River in Fargo, North Dakota, our zoo is a beloved destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and animal lovers of all ages.
At Red River Zoo, we pride ourselves on being more than just a typical zoo β we are a conservation hub, a learning center, and a sanctuary for endangered and exotic species. Our mission is to inspire our community to conserve the natural world by providing engaging experiences that connect people with animals and the environment.
Founded in 1999, Red River Zoo has grown from humble beginnings to become a premier zoological facility in the region. Our 33-acre expanse is home to over 600 animals representing 89 species, including many that are threatened or endangered. Each day, our dedicated team of zookeepers and staff work tirelessly to ensure the well-being and enrichment of our animal residents, while also promoting conservation efforts through our education and outreach programs.
One of our main attractions is the Red River Zoo’s unique focus on animals native to the region, showcasing the diverse wildlife found in the Great Plains ecosystem. From majestic bison and elusive gray wolves to colorful native birds and playful river otters, visitors can explore the beauty and diversity of the local flora and fauna right here in our backyard.
In addition to native species, Red River Zoo is also home to a variety of exotic animals from around the globe. Guests can travel the world in just a few steps, encountering creatures such as Amur tigers, red pandas, ring-tailed lemurs, and more. Our immersive exhibits and naturalistic habitats provide a glimpse into the lives of these fascinating animals and the importance of protecting their habitats in the wild.
Education is at the core of everything we do at Red River Zoo. Through engaging programs, interactive exhibits, and special events, we strive to inspire a love for nature and foster a sense of stewardship for the environment. From school field trips and summer camps to conservation initiatives and wildlife preservation projects, we are committed to sparking curiosity and promoting a deeper understanding of the natural world.
Whether you are a first-time visitor or a longtime supporter, we invite you to join us on a journey of discovery and exploration at Red River Zoo. Experience the magic of the animal kingdom, connect with nature in a meaningful way, and become part of our mission to protect and preserve wildlife for generations to come. πΏπΎ
