Discover Benjamin Twiggs: A Legacy of Michigan’s Finest Fruits
You can’t truly know Benjamin Twiggs until you meet Leisa Eckerle Hankins, a 5th generation fruit farmer from Leelanau County. In 2019, Leisa was searching for a way to reinvest her resources and time when the opportunity to purchase the Benjamin Twiggs store arose. In January 2020, she took ownership, unaware that her father, a dedicated fruit farmer, had invested in Benjamin Twiggs over 57 years ago. Life has come full circle for the Eckerle family.
The Eckerle Family Farm Legacy
The Eckerle family owns over 257 acres in Suttons Bay, Michigan, with an additional 140 acres across six farms in Leelanau County. Their farms boast over 20,000 trees, primarily cultivating cherries, peaches, and apples. The quality of their fruit is a testament to the care and dedication the Eckerle family puts into their farming year-round. When they say, “Our farm, to your table,” they mean it.
