Alterra Productions

In July 2016, Alterra Productions—originally known as Cirque du Nuit—emerged from an experimental collaboration with the event production company, You Are So Lucky. Founded by theatre director, actor, and circus performer Kaitlin Chin, Alterra began as a collective of performers from diverse artistic disciplines, including theatre, circus, and dance. Their first event, titled “Night of Fire,” took place on a Manhattan pier, where the troupe broke traditional entertainment barriers, engaging guests with both large-scale spectacles and intimate performances.

Early Beginnings: The Night Circus

Under the names “The Night Circus” and “Cirque du Nuit,” Alterra continued its partnership with You Are So Lucky, performing at various high-profile events. The troupe quickly gained recognition for their performances at large and small-scale gatherings, most notably You Are So Lucky’s Halloween parties at the W.B. Thompson Mansion in Yonkers, NY. In July 2017, Alterra’s performances at a mini-festival hosted by You Are So Lucky were even featured in Vogue magazine.

These early performances showcased the troupe’s ability to create both memorable performance pieces and spontaneous improvisational moments. As a result, Alterra Productions earned a reputation for being professional, organized, and innovative.

Expanding Horizons: Alterra Productions Today

As Alterra Productions grew, it began to establish itself as a leading name in the entertainment industry. No longer limited to collaborative work, Alterra independently curated performances for a wide range of events, including corporate functions, private parties, theatrical shows, weddings, and art festivals.
